About this talk

We can all agree that physical activity is important for everyone, regardless of background, gender or ability. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way that sport and recreation will be delivered in the future. Most people throughout this year have gained a new appreciation for physical activity especially during lockdown. However, physical activity and recreation is not necessarily available for those living with a disability. They don’t have the same opportunities to be active as everyone else does.

Modified activity in a safe, social space is one of the most important parts of being physically active for people with disabilities. While this environment hasn’t always been created in the past, 2020, if anything has provided the opportunity to think outside of the box and look at different ways of doing things. This is a prime opportunity for coaches and providers to adapt and include everyone, regardless. This conversation will discuss the impact that physical activity and recreation has on those with disabilities, the importance of balance, and will look at practical ways to adapt coaching and sport for those who need a bit more assistance and support.
